Equivalent to Land Rover part numbers: MTC9773 & RNF800
High-quality remanufactured front screen rail, designed for Land Rover Defender 90 and 110 full soft-top models from approximately 1985 to 2016.
Land Rover used two different types of front screen rail on the Defender:
Early type – MTC9773: Designed for use with soft tops featuring a round rubber insert sewn into the front edge of the hood.
Later type – RNF800: Commonly referred to as the “flat type” and introduced with the later Defender models, TD5 and later vehicles. This type uses a flat plastic insert sewn into the front of the hood rather than the round rubber insert.
Our screen rail is manufactured to the later RNF800 design and can be used on both early and late Defender models. However, when fitting it to an early vehicle, it must be used with a later-style TD5-type hood featuring the flat plastic front insert.
All Heritage 1948 Defender 90 full soft-top hoods are specifically designed to work with our hood-stick sets and this front screen rail.
Improved construction
The original Land Rover screen rails were manufactured from thin aluminium, which can be prone to distortion or failure, particularly when the vehicle is driven at higher speeds and the wind places significant tension on the hood.
Our remanufactured rail retains the original Land Rover design and dimensions, but improves upon the original construction by manufacturing the rail from stronger steel with a durable galvanised finish. This provides increased strength, durability and corrosion resistance while retaining the correct appearance and functionality.
