To ensure that quality, we exclusively use our ‘Moorland’ 100% Cotton Canvas. Moorland Canvas was selected for our Hoods after extensive testing of many different types and grades of canvas, and was chosen for its superior durability and colour fasting properties. In addition to this, Moorland Canvas is treated to protect against rot, fungus and UV damage.
Heritage Land Rover 88″ Hoods are fitted with real Brass Buckles, Tips and Eyelets and not inferior brass coated items that quickly corrode as fitted to some re-production hoods.
Each Canvas Hood is subject to many man hours of design and patterning. The 88″ Land Rover Full Hoods took over 80 hours of designing before it was finalised. We then product test each of our Hoods on a selection of different Land Rovers before finally signing it off and passing it on to our in-house Hood Production Team.
Unfortunately many previously highly regarded UK Hood Manufactures have now resorted to producing inferior quality canvas products abroad to increase their profits. Heritage 1948 are different. We have a steadfast commitment to UK produced products and that’s why 100% of our Canvas Products (including these 88” Land Rover Hoods) are produced in-house by our small team of skilled craftsmen at our factory in Somerset, prioritising quality products over quantity and company profits.

Khaki: A traditional dark green canvas with dark Olive webbing & binding finished with Brass buckets, tips and eyelets.
Sand / Light Khaki: A traditional sand canvas with matching sand webbing & binding finished with Brass buckets, tips and eyelets.
Black: A popular aftermarket hood colour that can compliment a modified or traditional Land Rover equally, finished with black webbing & binding, Brass buckets, tips and eyelets. (currently available by special request)

Please note: Our Moorland canvas has been specifically dyed for Heritage 1948 and therefor may not match other manufactures shades.
Both our Dark Khaki & Sand/Light Khaki, have been matched to the original Land Rover shades.
Windows:
Hoods are available with or without Side Windows (fitted to the side curtains).
All Hoods are fitted with a Window in the Rear Curtain.

When first fitting you Canvas Land Rover Series 2 / 3 88″ , it is important to take time to tension it down correctly. On first fitting you will find your Canvas Land Rover Series 2/3 Hood is slightly baggy; this is intentional. Canvas is a natural product and is intended to shrink when wet. It is this shrinkage that will guarantee a sung watertight fit to your Land Rover and is therefore very important that you correctly tension down your Hood to stop the Canvas over shrinking. If correct tensioned is not maintained, overtime the canvas will continue to shrink and will no longer fit correctly.

Moorland Canvas has been treated to protect against rot, fungus and UV damage. To maintain this protection and keep your Hood in good condition, we recommend you clean and treat your Canvas Hood at least once a year.
Our Canvas Land Rover Hoods should be cleaned by hand with warm water and a soft brush. Once clean and dry we recommend re-treating them with a Canvas Proofer such as Nikwax or Fabsil. This will ensure the greatest possible lifespan of our Hoods.

Please Note: All of our canvas products are manufactured in-house. During busy periods, lead times for some hoods may range between 4 and 8 weeks.

The Full Hood Stick Kit from Heritage 1948 contains all the parts you need to convert your Hard Top SWB Series 2 or 3 Land Rover to the more favourable Soft Top. Unlike many of our competitors who produce their Hoods Sticks abroad, all of our Hood Sticks are manufactured right here on Exmoor, Somerset, UK. Shaped by hand operated tooling in the same process the original parts were manufactured, we have selected a High Quality Steel and Low Volume Galvanising to produce the most accurate, period correct Land Rover Hood Stick Sets on the market. Our kits include everything you need for the conversion, right down to nuts, bolts and washers.
With so many similar Hood Stick component parts, finding the correct Hood Sticks can be confusing. For clarity, please use our ‘Exploded’ parts view with individual product codes, and if in doubt please do not hesitate to contact one of our team.

Please note: This kit will only fit Short Wheel Base Land Rover Series 2 & 3 models that were produced between 1958 & 1985. Although many parts are interchangeable, this kit will not fit the later Land Rover 90 & Defender models produced from approximately 1985. For Full Hood Stick Kits for Land Rover 90 models, please see product number ‘HER-HS-FUL-90’ (available from mid 2025).
Due to their size, Hood Sticks including the ’88” Hood Stick Kit’ do come under large parcel freight (currently £42.50 Inc VAT) for all domestic UK Locations.
